 The band was formed in 1999 by guitar player Daniele Mazzanti. During the first years of activity, the band evolved from Hard Rock/Heavy Metal to Power-Metal with the final members Matteo Vellucci (drums and percussion), Diego Testa (bass guitar), Andrea Di Cesare (guitar) and Alessandro Antonelli (vocals).

In July 2003 the band finished recording its first album “Kiss of the Shadow”. In the following months the band performed several shows, especially in underground pubs and clubs of DreamSteel’s hometown, Bologna.
After an intense song writing session, in July 2004, the new demo “Thinking About Infinity”, recorded at the well-known Fear Studios, confirmed the identity of the band, enlivening up a power metal with polychromatic structure that sweeps from trash “Pantera-esque” riffing to little parenthesis of classic music or Medieval. The album was reviewed by several Italian and foreign webzines and magazines with successful results.
After a few months, Andrea Di Cesare left the band for divergences in musical approach. Wanting to create a thicker sound and add new emotional nuances, DreamSteel decided for the only Daniele Mazzanti’s guitar and started to look for a keyboard player.
The band played some live shows with the keyboardist Marco Zichittella, who, after this experience, became a permanent member of the band, marking the last change to the band’s line up.
In September 2006 DreamSteel finished to record a demo called “The flight of a butterfly”. With this last record the band discovered a new progressive melodic vain definitely finding a total personal sound. They started an intense work in promoting their music, also with the collaboration of the new band manager Lara Pibiri and forwarded the new demo tape to many recording labels in Europe and USA.
Also thanks to several good reviews in the best webzines, the band increased his visibility through all the music world and in 2008 started a collaboration with the record label My Kingdom Music.
The full-length album “YOU” came out in February 2008 and was enthusiastically reviewed in the best worldwide magazines and webzines. The band promoted YOU performing several live shows in the main Italian cities and clubs, as well as taking part in radio and TV shows, obtaining a positive feedback from the audience.
In 2011 DreamSteel produced a new demo EP, “DSD 2011”, deciding to release the four songs therein included (I Want It, Waiting, Out Of Nowhere and Moonlit) for free streaming. The new songs were well appreciated from the most important critics in rock music world.
In the following two years, DreamSteel focused their efforts on writing process and undertook a new path that led them to abandon their classic metal approach and look for innovative song structures and sounds.
Electronic and techno insertions, alternating with melodic refrains, were implemented within a massive wall of riffing guitars, with sound post production well-finished at Domination Studio.
The new record of DreamSteel, entitled “2.013”, will be released in September 2013, with the promise to mark a decisive turning point in the history of the band.
